What is Hypnotherapy?
Put simply, hypnotherapy is the use of psychological techniques whilst in the state of hypnosis.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a trance state in which you are highly suggestable and imaginative. Whilst under hypnosis, you may experience deep relaxation and intense focus.
Whilst in this comfortable state, your are then able to accept suggestions on an unconscious level, in order to achieve the agreed goals discussed before your session .
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a safe, natural process, which you have probably already experienced many times. A similar state is when you are walking or driving a familiar route, and you sometimes reach your destination without actually remembering the journey. Here, you have been in a light trance state, which is similar to being in hypnosis.
Another example is that feeing when you are completely lost in a film or book. You are aware of what is happening around you, however your attention is completely focused on your experience.
Is hypnotherapy mind control?
Absolutely not! During the session you are in a highly suggestable state, and ready to accept the suggestions provided based on your ideal outcome discussed during your intake. You are always in control, and your own sense of morality, values or health & safety remain, so if suggestions are ever mentioned that do not align with what you want, then you simply won't accept them.
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works at making changes to the subconscious part of your mind. You are most likely already aware of your conscious mind due to your own internal chatter, however your subconscious is responsible for those automatic thoughts, behaviours and responses that you do without even thinking about. It is the real driver of the machine.
Your subconscious influences your conscious mind heavily, and the calm, focused state of hypnosis subdues this, in order to make changes directly to the subconscious.
