The Mind Loft Method:
1: Regulate

An 8-week nervous system regulation programme for anxiety, overwhelm and stress

You’ve spent so long holding everything together that it feels like your body is permanently on high alert.

  • Maybe your mind is racing with "what ifs".

  • Maybe you feel lonely, even around people.

  • Perhaps the smallest everyday stress tips you into overwhelm

  • Maybe you feel anxious, exhausted, irritable or completely switched off, sometimes without being able to explain why.

  • You might know you're safe, but your body doesn't seem to have got the message.

Regulate is an 8-week practical programme designed to help you understand your nervous system, recognise your own patterns and learn ways to respond to stress and overwhelm differently.

This isn't about being calm all the time.

It's about understanding what's happening in your body so you have more choice in what happens next.

Before Regulate

What can it help you overcome?

Sound familiar?

You might find that:

  • your mind rarely seems to switch off

  • you're constantly anticipating what could go wrong

  • everyday stress can quickly become overwhelming

  • you become anxious, irritable, tearful or withdrawn when you're under pressure

  • you struggle to relax, even when you have the opportunity to

  • you're exhausted from trying to keep everything together

  • social situations can leave you feeling drained

  • you find yourself overthinking conversations, decisions or mistakes

  • you don't always understand why you react so strongly to certain situations

  • you know what should help, but struggle to access those things when you're overwhelmed

You may even be thinking, “I know I'm safe. So why do I still feel like this?”

That's where understanding your nervous system can make a difference.

What can Regulate help with?

Regulate focuses on four areas that often become tangled together:

Anxiety:

Understand what happens in your body when anxiety rises and learn practical ways to support yourself before things escalate.

Overwhelm:

Recognise your early warning signs and understand your stress responses, rather than simply pushing through until you can't.

Connection:

Explore the relationship between your nervous system and connection, including why being around people can sometimes feel reassuring and sometimes exhausting.

Confidence:

Begin to understand how feeling safer and more settled can affect the way you make decisions, communicate and trust yourself.

This isn't about getting rid of difficult emotions.

It's about understanding your responses and developing more ways of working with them.

What is nervous system regulation?

Your nervous system is constantly responding to what's happening around you, and what's happening inside you.

It helps prepare you to deal with challenge, threat and uncertainty, as well as supporting rest, connection and recovery.

Sometimes that response is useful.

Sometimes it can become overactive, particularly when you've been under prolonged stress or have experienced situations where you needed to stay alert.

You can then find yourself reacting before you've had time to think.

Regulate helps you understand that process.

Rather than blaming yourself for your reactions, you'll learn to notice what's happening, recognise your patterns and practise different ways of responding.

This is nervous system education and practical regulation support, not therapy, and not another course telling you to simply “think positive”.

During Regulate

A peek inside the 8 weeks

Each week includes:

✔ Short video lessons
✔ Guided hypnotherapy audios
✔ A printable workbook
✔ Practical exercises
✔ Optional weekly Q&A check-in calls

You don't need to attend every Q&A to complete the programme. The core learning and resources are available for you to work through in your own time.

Week 1: Foundations & Safety

Learn how your nervous system works, why you can feel on edge and what your body needs in order to move towards a greater sense of safety.

Week 2: Fight, Flight & Freeze

Understand common stress responses and start recognising what yours look like in everyday life.

You'll also begin practicing practical grounding and regulation tools.

Week 3: Returning to Calm

Explore what happens when your system becomes activated and learn techniques that can help you move towards a steadier state.

Week 4: Trauma & Protection

Explore how previous experiences can influence your responses today and why some reactions can feel automatic.

This isn't trauma therapy. It's about developing understanding without judgement.

Week 5: State Before Story

Explore the relationship between your physical state, emotions and thoughts, and why it can be difficult to think clearly when you're already overwhelmed.

Week 6: Triggers & Glimmers

Identify what tends to activate your stress response and what helps you feel safer, calmer or more connected.

You'll begin building your own personal regulation toolkit.

Week 7: Social Engagement & Connection

Explore how your nervous system responds to other people and why connection can sometimes feel supportive and sometimes feel like hard work.

Week 8: Your Personal Regulation Plan

Bring everything together. You'll map your own patterns, identify your triggers and early warning signs, and create a practical regulation plan you can continue using after the programme ends.

After Regulate

Your next steps

By the end of the eight weeks, you'll have:

  • a better understanding of your nervous system and stress responses

  • a clearer picture of your own triggers and patterns

  • practical regulation and grounding tools

  • a better understanding of what helps you feel settled and connected

  • strategies you can use when you're becoming overwhelmed

  • your own personal regulation plan

  • a greater understanding of why you respond the way you do

The aim isn't to finish the programme never feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed again.

That's not how being human works!

The aim is to understand yourself better and have more options when difficult moments happen.

Regulate → Reframe → Reclaim

Regulate is the first step in The Mind Loft Method pathway.

You don't need to commit to the whole pathway.

Regulate stands alone, but if you want to continue, you aren't just left alone.

You are still a member of the supportive, private online community, and if you choose to continue, this is where the journey can take you next.

A final note from Laura...

I created Regulate because I kept seeing people blame themselves for reactions they didn't understand. Nearly every week in session, I hear:

“I don't know why I reacted like that.”

“I should be able to cope with this.”

“I know I'm overthinking, but I can't stop.”

“Nothing is actually wrong, so why do I feel like this?”

Understanding your nervous system doesn't magically make life stress-free, but it can give you a much better idea of what's happening when your body and brain seem to be working against you.

That's what Regulate is about.

Not fixing you.

Not telling you to be positive.

Not expecting you to become calm all the time.

Just giving you a better understanding of yourself and some practical things you can actually do with that understanding.
